Writing a Birthday Letter

Birthday is a very special occasion and unlike the popular trend of asking for a party from the birthday girl or boy, it is more valued when the loved ones give them a party, that is to say, they should feel others are celebrating the special occasion. There are different ways of valuing a person and expressing your love or happiness. Writing a birthday letter is a good idea, as it gives you a chance to reiterate the times you have been with the person and enjoyed those times. The idea is to make the person feel special. What else can be more precious than loving words in letter on such occasions? Material things can come and go, diminish with time, lose its value, but the essence of emotions in words is evergreen. Following is a sample of how you can write the letter.

Birthday Letter Sample

This example letter is written by a friend to her friend who has joined the military services and they have not met for a long time.

Most affectionately Ernest,

It is the first time we are not together on your birthday in the five years of knowing each other. Today, when you are not there with me, I remember all the crazy stuff we did together and how we collected our pocket money to watch movies and go to the theatre, hiding from our parents.

A year has passed that you wrote to me. Writing letters has surely taken a backseat because of call of the nation and I understand. Today, I feel immensely proud of you not only for being a good human being at heart, but for having achieved something that none of our batch mates have been able to. And that is why my emotions are lying heavy on my heart and I thought of writing to you. My watery eyes are looking at your photograph in uniform in the official stripe wetting ceremony you sent last time.

I wish you a very happy birthday and may the Almighty give you capabilities that equal your challenges and may your dream of becoming the Commander of your passing out parade be fulfilled. Wishing you the choicest of blessings and lots of love and luck! Praying for you.

You have made us all proud. Hope to see you soon. Enjoy your special day.

Your ever loving friend,
Maria

Apart from reminiscing the past, you many also talk about what the person means to you, his or contribution in your life, what you have learnt from him or her, etc. Appreciate the person and be earnest while writing a birthday letter.
